
The grant was given to create The Hive, which will bring together education providers to deliver youth education programmes aimed at inspiring digital citizenship, creativity and tech skills.
It was part of $500,000 awarded to the city for community projects as part of winning the Chorus Gigatown competition.
Other grants in the latest round included $22,000 for Anglican Family Care for its primary community data project; $20,000 for a collaboration between the University of Otago’s geography department and six other groups to develop a game and app to encourage engagement in te reo Maori; and $12,000 for ChatBus to redevelop its website and mobile counselling platform.
Applications for the remaining $44,000 in funding open on November 10.
