Bakup and Alagant Satin give Cambridge trainers Murray and Bjorn Baker a strong hand in feature races at Hawera tomorrow.
Bakup, who is in the Egmont Cup, finished third in two open middle-distance races at Hastings in the past month. He won the St Leger Trial (2100m) at Otaki last season.
Opie Bosson has the mount.
Alagant Satin is high on the list of fancies for the weight-for-age $80,000 Taranaki Breeders' Stakes (1400m) for fillies and mares after a second to Katie Lee at Hastings last Saturday.
Rosie Myers has replaced Sam Spratt, who is riding at Matamata.
The lightly raced Alagant Satin has been placed in seven of her 14 starts since she won the Eight Carat Classic (1600m) at Ellerslie in December, 2008. She won the Eulogy Stakes at Awapuni at her previous start.
Murray Baker won the Egmont Racing Club feature with Mynzawine, when he was based at Woodville, and Verlei (at odds of 37 to one) in 2000.
Lisa Mumby (now Allpress), who rode Mynzawine, has the ride on Sharp Princess tomorrow. Buddy Lammas, who has won the race the past two years on O'Ceirins Angel, rides Sacha.
Kelly Myers, who rode Sacha last time, has taken the mount on the 3yr-old Pooka's Sister, the winner of two of her three starts.
Verlei is the last 3yr-old to win the race, then known as the Fayette Park Stakes.
