Individual vocalist-guitarists Sarah Foley (16) and Holly Arrowsmith (16) join first heat winners, duo Emily Burns (17) and Max Gunn (16) and teen rock four-piece, the Fletcherz, after the second heat in X-it Youth Centre, last Friday night.
All four acts, plus "wild card" contenders, young blues and jazz quintet, the Artful Hustlers, will vie for the Ultimate Muso prize of the chance to play a warm-up set for an established act at Revolver.
The winners of the best original song will have an opportunity to record their song professionally at Studio 183, in Frankton, with category judges, singer-songwriter, producer and recording artist Andrea Cruickshank-Pearson and Studio 183 owner Dave Allison.
Teen rock band Why We Need Darkness and vocalist-keyboardist Belinda Woodward (18) also performed for about 60 peers and supporters in the second heat.
Guest artist Craig Hubber, on acoustic guitar, entertained while judges Margaret O'Hanlan, Simon Green, John Stapleton and guest judge for the night, music teacher and performer Marc Hamilton, deliberated.
Ms O'Hanlan told the audience, on behalf of the panel, all five acts were focused and clear on how they wanted to present themselves.
They performed beautifully and memorably with good material and an original take on songs, she said.
