The occupants of a two-storey house which caught fire in Dunedin last night managed to escape without injury.

An appliance from Roslyn attended the fire about 9.50pm, which witnesses say was in the roof of the Tweed St house.

The building was severely damaged.

It was not known last night what caused the fire.
