Harnessed in and holding on, Wanaka Primary School pupil Taylor Jennings (8) makes his way up one of the Clip'N Climb walls at the Basecamp Wanaka Climbing Centre, as part of the school's education outside the classroom programme yesterday.

The five-week outdoor education programme offers a mixture of activities such as skiing, tramping and horseback riding.

Associate principal Annie McCambridge said the programme was about getting the pupils out into the environment around Wanaka.

''It's all about getting them outdoors, which not every child gets to enjoy, so it's about them experiencing all the Wanaka area has to offer.''
