Seven illumination-topped towers will light up the night for racers at Silverstream Raceway tonight as the Dunedin Kart Club hosts its drive-in-the-dark meeting.
The "outstanding" inaugural night event last year was "really exciting for drivers" club president Viv Patrick said, so the decision was made to re-run it.
The novelty factor is enhanced by the fact Dunedin and Nelson are the only South Island tracks able to host a floodlit race programme.
Accordingly, members of any of the country's kart clubs are invited to enter the five classes.
Gates open at 3pm with racing from 6pm and no entry fee for spectators.
The Dunedin Kart Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary on October 2-3.
Registrations are being taken for a dinner and dance on the Saturday night.
On the Sunday there will be a club race day, with a class for the ex-racers in their older model karts.
