The Wingatui horsewoman has recently turned her hand to competitive running and is getting the sort of results most trainers dream of.
It took Anderton (36) only a week after registering with the Caversham harriers club in early June to win the first race she entered.
Her next notable performance came on what Anderton could call her home track - more so than any other runner, anyway.
The former jockey took to Wingatui racetrack - this time on foot, rather than horseback - where she was the third woman home in the Edmond Cup cross-country race.
Anderton, who had previously enjoyed running as a hobby, added to her wins as a rider and trainer on a thoroughbred track 12 days ago by winning her age-group category at the Otago Cross-Country Championships at Waikouaiti racecourse.
Although riding or training horses to win races, and running races, may occasionally happen at the same places, there is little else the two sports have in common, according to Anderton.
''No, I don't think so. Running, you get off the roads and up the hills.
''You can have an hour or two when you don't think about horses.''
For the most of her day, when she is thinking about horses, it would be hard for Anderton not to look forward to the new racing season.
Among her small but select team, which she describes as the perfect number of horses to be working, is a Darci Brahma filly from classy former racemare The Jewel.
The unnamed rising 3yr-old has returned from a spell she was given on the back of impressively winning a short-course jump-out at Wingatui in January.
Anderton is hoping the filly can turn her potential into race wins this spring.
''She is in work now and just started galloping,'' she said.
''She has never had a whole lot of pressure put on her, but what she has done so far she has definitely shown she has got some raw talent.
''We have always got the fillies' races in the back of our mind, but it is just if everything comes together at the right time.''
Anderton also has another Darci Brahma filly, from three-win mare Bellonet, who will return to work soon.
''I have got another nice Darci Brahma; she's a completely different type to The Jewel filly.
''But she has also showed me a bit of ability for what she had done.''
Of her prior racetrack performers, Majic El, who won his maiden by five and a-half lengths when in Anderton's care but was officially trained by Mike Moroney and Pam Gerard a the time, is due back in work soon.
''He has had a good spell, so he is to come back in.
''He has obviously got ability. When I took him over her had just gone off a bit.
''He had done a wee bit of racing in a short time and it just got on top of him, but I expect a spell would have improved him.''
Maiden 5yr-old Edward is back in work already and is pleasing his trainer with the improvement he has shown since having time off.
''Edward has come back in. He is still a maidener, but he has improved, so hopefully he can pick one or two [wins] up this time in.''
