Organisers of the inaugural Remarkables Awards have announced profits from the ticketed awards ceremony in Queenstown this Sunday will be donated to help fellow hospitality industry workers in Christchurch.
Restaurant Association of New Zealand chief executive Steve Mackenzie, of Auckland, said proceeds from the Southern Lakes hospitality awards evening would go to the Christchurch branch of the association, "to help with some of the restorative and support work they will need to do in the coming months".
Mr Mackenzie urged Wakatipu businesses to get behind the awards event at the Queenstown Memorial Hall and the after-party at Revolver.
"The more people we get, the more money we can raise - shout your staff to a night out."
