The Civil Aviation Authority will introduce a new app to Wanaka and Queenstown’s aviation communities next week.
The app is aimed at reducing air accidents stemming from aircraft running out of fuel, blocked fuel lines, and fuel that has become contaminated with water.
The CAA believes the app is a world first. CAA fuel safety seminars
will be held in Wanaka next Thursday and Frankton next Friday at the towns’ respective St John centres.
AvKiwi presenter and CAA aviation examiner Marc Brogan said problems with fuel were a surprisingly regular cause of power loss.
The app would help pilots better understand the fuel system of each aircraft.
