A man died yesterday after collapsing just before a Queenstown Lakes District Council committee meeting in Queenstown.

Council communications manager Michele Poole said the member of the public had a "medical emergency" just outside the council chambers where the community and services committee meeting was due to start at 10am.
"Cr [Val] Miller, who is a doctor, and several QLDC staff administered first aid until emergency services arrived," Ms Poole said.
Committee chairman Scott Stevens immediately adjourned the meeting and evacuated the chambers.
St John Queenstown station manager Keith Raymond said the local man, in his late 50s, was unable to be resuscitated.
He was understood to have had an "extensive cardiac history".
"[Dr Miller] was quite aware of potentially what may have been going on."
