Queenstown's "soft adventure" and eco-tourism marketing methods were observed by Malaysia's Minister of Tourism during her brief stopover in the resort at the weekend.

Dato Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen sought to learn how similar marketing ideas could be adapted in her home country.

As part of her week-long fact-finding visit to New Zealand, Dr Ng visited botanic gardens in Auckland and Christchurch and experienced Rotorua, Queenstown and Milford Sound.

Dr Ng and her entourage visited Skyline Gondola and took a helicopter ride around the resort on Saturday, and travelled to Te Anau and Milford Sound for a cruise with Real Journeys yesterday.

She flew to Christchurch last night and departs for Australia. today.

Malaysia is targeting New Zealanders in a major campaign to attract more visitors to experience its biodiversity and soft adventure options.
