Police had a busy day dealing with three unrelated incidents in Milton last Friday, including the unusual theft of a car and a burglary in which almost $6000 worth of tobacco products were stolen from a service station.
Senior Constable Robin Hutton, of Balclutha, said the NPD Service Station in Union St in Milton was burgled about 2.30am.
The cigarette and tobacco cabinet was targeted and products believed to be worth $5800 were stolen from the service station, Snr Const Hutton said.
Police had obtained CCTV footage and a scene examination was conducted.
Investigations into the incident were ongoing.
Snr Const Hutton appealed to the public for any information relating to the thefts.
Another incident involved the theft of a car about 4.45am on Friday.
Snr Const said a Dunedin resident was driving through Milton on his way home when he stopped at the northern end of Union St for a break. While he was out of his vehicle, a woman got into the car and drove off.
Police later found her in South Dunedin with the vehicle.
The woman is due to appear in court facing charges relating to the unlawful taking of a vehicle.
Later that day, about 9am, a 24-year-old woman allegedly assaulted a 28-year-old woman in Coronation Court, Milton.
Snr Const Hutton said the woman faced four charges relating to the assault, including threatening to kill the victim.
The 24-year-old woman is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court on April 4.
Snr Const Hutton said the victim was not injured in the incident but was ``extremely shaken''.
If anyone had any information in relation to the burglary at the service station, they were asked to call Balclutha Police on 03 418-0203 or anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555-111.
