The Clutha Valley Lions Club held its two-yearly Clydevale Farming Expo on March 1, and organisers were pleased with the turnout.

Convener Dave Wardell said they were happy with how well the event went.

''We had about 450 people through the gates,'' Mr Wardell said.

There were about 100 exhibitors and the weather was pleasant.

''Most of the exhibitors were reasonably happy and we had one who only had one piece of machinery left by the end of the day.''

Many exhibitors reported good sales and it was a good opportunity to network with clients.

In addition to the expo, the Lions ran an export lamb competition, which attracted 135 lambs.

Ashley May, of Clydevale, won the overall trophy.

A sheep shears competition was held at the end of the day and Hamish Erwood, of Clydevale, won the title for the second year running.
