The 2010 Dynastar Lange junior interfields ski-race series began at Coronet Peak on Saturday, with the first of six events planned for this season.

Skiers aged between 5 and 16, from as far afield as Japan, Sydney and Auckland competed in five categories for trophies, medals and the acclaim which went with a podium finish.

The interfields series, which celebrates its 25th year this season, is the biggest ski-racing event on the junior ski calendar in the South Island.

The next races in the series will be held at Treble Cone (July 24), the Remarkables (August 1) and Round Hill (August 14 and 15).

The final event will be held at Cardrona on September 5.

All junior skiers were urged to take part.
