A cow had to be shot by a farmer on the Crown Range after being hit by a vehicle last night.
A police media spokeswoman said Queenstown police and St John ambulance were called to the incident near Eastburn Rd about 11.30pm.
The black cow "had to be shot and removed from the road'', the spokeswoman said.
The driver sustained minor injuries, while the vehicle was moderately damaged.
No further details were available.
