The number of alleged alcohol-related driving incidents in Queenstown over the weekend is worrying, police say.

A Fernhill resident recorded a breath-alcohol level of 1125mcg and might also face a careless driving charge, Sergeant Steve Watt said.

The 29-year-old man allegedly crashed his vehicle into a ditch on the Glenorchy Rd on Sunday. A member of the public helped him tow it out and subsequently contacted police to say they believed the man had been drinking.

``Police then attended the scene and made further inquiries at his home. Police were about to leave when he pulled in in his vehicle.''

A 31-year-old local man, who had a breath-alcohol level of 561mcg, crashed into a parked vehicle on McBride St.

A 20-year-old male was stopped by police while he was ``driving his mates into town''.

He recorded a breath-alcohol level of 609mcg.

Other significant results were recorded including one of 563mcg and a couple of under-20 drivers whose level was over 175mcg.

Sgt Watt said the dangers of drink-driving were well known.

``There was an increase in the number of EBAs over the weekend period. We will be focusing on this in the coming weeks.

``The message is simple: drink-driving is dangerous.''
