Trainer Cran Dalgety won the Marlborough Winter Cup for the third time when About Ambition was successful yesterday.
About Ambition was driven by Dexter Dunn, who won the race in 2008 on the Dalgety-trained Bettor's Strike. Dalgety also trained the 2003 winner, Scorching.
The Tin Man recorded his fourth win at a Marlborough Trotting Club winter meeting when successful from a 40m handicap yesterday.
It was his first win in the ownership of the Night N Day Racing syndicate, who leased a share in the gelding three months ago from Jenny Becker, of Te Horo.
The Tin Man had not been successful for 12 months since he won the corresponding race from a 30m handicap. He holds track records for 2300m and 2700m at Waterlea.
The syndicate won a race with Coughton Court at Omakau in January from the stable of Robbie Holmes, who trains The Tin Man. Coughton Court is back jogging after a two-month spell.
Allfedup, who has won three of his six starts, is raced by Brian Kilworth (the breeder) and Bruce Harper, of Ashburton. The 3yr-old is the fifth winner and last foal left by his dam, New York Candy, who died in 2007.
Allfedup is a brother of Sir Lance, who won 10 races in New Zealand and Anotherchristian (seven wins).
