"We want to get the business community together to brainstorm and workshop some ideas around the Rugby World Cup," Tourism Waitaki general manager Annabel Gudsell said.
Tourism Waitaki would give a brief presentation about the cup, the expected visitors and what other areas were doing, including Southland's "Spin It Wide" campaign.
The workshop, on July 1 at 5.30pm in the Opera House, was aimed at businesses.
Tourism Waitaki could then go back to the business community with a strategy.
Invitations had been sent to businesses on Tourism Waitaki's database, but any who had not received one should contact Tourism Waitaki.
