The season may be over on the field for Otago coach Cory Brown but he is not going to be putting his feet up any time soon.

Brown is off to Argentina later this month to promote Otago rugby and build up some relationships with rugby clubs in the South American country.

Otago Rugby Football Union general manager Richard Kinley said the union had been approached this year about starting a relationship with some Argentinian regions.

``It will give us development opportunities and working on a relationship which may lead players and coaches to come to Dunedin,'' Kinley said.

``A number of other unions and clubs have relationships with clubs in other countries. Some are in Japan, some are in South America. We had a group of high school players come here from Japan a couple of years ago and that worked very well.''

An official from the city of Mendoza had met Otago officials this year and the relationship had grown from there.

A team from Argentina was looking at coming to Dunedin next year, which was a bonus for the union, and hopefully that would lead to more opportunities, Kinley said.

Brown would spend 10 days in the country, where he would be holding coaching clinics with players and coaches.

He was also involved with the New Zealand under-20 side, running his eye over the halfbacks.
