Stallholders, including driftwood artist Maree Maclot, enjoyed a booming start to the summer market at Remarkables Park, which was attended by hundreds of people.
Ms Maclot began using driftwood, sourced locally, almost two years ago, initially making a heart for herself.
However, after encouragement from family and friends she decided to make more pieces and took them to the market last year for the first time.
``The response was really good - it gave me the confidence to get out and sell more,'' she said.

``It's like a huge jigsaw puzzle; the wood depicts where it wants to lie and what it wants to do.''
New initiatives at the market this year include Remarkables Park Ltd's playground development.
On completion, the area, between the market site and Game Over Queenstown, would become a permanent outdoor play facility for children, and a playground consultant would soon be engaged, Remarkables Park Ltd management said.
It would largely be crafted from natural materials, providing an innovative space to offer children a broad range of sensory experiences, including swinging, climbing, rocking and sliding equipment and a tactile ``music wall'' and sandpit.
The market runs every Saturday from 9am to 2pm until April 15.
