Staff at two Silver Fern meatworks plants in Christchurch have this morning been called into snap meetings.
Two proposals were being considered for the plants in Belfast Rd and Factory Rd, and details would be released after midday, company spokeswoman Nicola Johnston told The Press.
It was understood one proposal could involve up to 100 redundancies in the chiller, casing and rendering departments.
NZ Meat Workers and Related Trades Union would not comment.
