Dunedin-based company NHNZ beat the likes of the BBC this week, winning an international award for outstanding use of stock footage.
At the Focal International Awards 2010 in London, the television production company won the best use of wildlife and natural history stock footage award, beating the BBC and Germany's Marco Polo Film Company.
The award was for the company's use of archival footage for its documentary Shark Nicole, which details the journey of a great white shark.
The documentary combined stock footage with location footage, with NHNZ footage researcher Lemuel Lyes using stock footage libraries throughout the world.
Also joining NHNZ on the winner's podium was veteran American director Martin Scorcese, who won an award for best archive restoration for work on the 1948 film The Red Shoes.
