Proposed traveller accommodation near the Otago Central Rail Trail at Lauder looks likely to go ahead, as no appeals have been lodged against the development.
A spokesman for the Environment Court this week confirmed there had been no appeals received against the Central Otago District Council's decision to grant consent to developer David Judge.
Mr Judge, of Christchurch, proposed to establish and operate seven cottage units with a total capacity for 28 people.
Lauderburn Cottages would be situated on 4.2ha of rural property between State Highway 85 and the rail trail.
It attracted 13 formal opposing submissions during the council's initial hearing process, from Lauder residents, local environmental groups, and some national, regional, and district-wide organisations.
Concerns included the visibility of accommodation units from SH85 and the rail trail, structural development in an otherwise rural setting, and allegedly limited access to potable water.
Certain submitters' concerns were mitigated by conditions of consent, of which there were 42.
Submitters had to appeal within 15 working days of receiving the council's decision to grant consent, which was dated March 19.
