Omarama people want more out of their hall than an initial concept plan for a major upgrade proposes.
That has prompted the Omarama Residents' Association to produce another more impressive plan so it and residents can decide what they can afford.
An initial hall concept plan produced last month reflected redeveloping it for more uses and incorporating a medical centre.
The association asked for feedback, and its president, Bill Gordon, said it received "some really great ideas".
Architect and association member Nic Zup has been asked to incorporate those into another plan, then produce costing estimates.
"It may work out to be too expensive, but we decided to incorporate all the ideas so we knew what everything could cost.
If it is too expensive, we can then look at what to cut," Mr Gordon said.
It would have been a shame to have done the work, then find out additional facilities could have been provided at little cost.
The new plan and cost will go back to the community in two to three months for more feedback.
Some additional ideas were providing space for a gym, making sure there was space to cater for as many sports as possible(such as badminton) , improving sound-proofing and making smaller spaces flexible for a range of uses.
The first concept plan was prepared after a public meeting in August attended by about 50 people.
It involved upgrading and relocating some facilities and building a 50sq m extension to the rear of the hall for a Plunket room and meeting room, next to new unisex toilets.
A doctors' room would be created off the entrance foyer in existing space, replacing the Omarama Medical Centre, which was sold by the Waitaki District Council last year.
About $190,000 from that sale has been promised to the hall redevelopment.
The kitchen would be relocated and upgraded and an existing wing continue to house the play group.
