Operating replacement video conferencing equipment is awaited by the Central Otago District Council, after the theft of its original gear.
Equipment valued at $10,000 was first bought by the council last year and used by Alexandra-based councillors and staff to have input at meetings held in Roxburgh, Ranfurly, and Cromwell.
A video-conferencing camera was stolen from the council's Alexandra chamber room in early October, so staff and elected members had to forgo the service.
CODC corporate services manager Susan Finlay said it was not known when the replacement equipment would be ready.
Insurance was covering the cost of the new equipment, which for a fee would be available for the public to use when not needed by the council.
