Mephedrone has been linked to several deaths in the United Kingdom and one in Sweden.
It is an illegal class C drug in New Zealand.
Dunedin and Wanaka have accounted for more than a third of all mephedrone intercepted at the International Mail Centre in Auckland: eight of the 22 seized shipments of the drug were destined for the Otago centres.
A Customs Service spokeswoman said the latest seizure, on March 8, involved 10g of mephedrone, which was sent from the UK and destined for a Wanaka address.
The package had an estimated street value of $200.
