A 37-year-old Cromwell man is in custody facing eight charges following a domestic incident in the town on Sunday night.
He was arrested and charged with three counts of breaching a protection order and one each of burglary, criminal damage, threatening to kill, assaulting police and resisting police.
He appeared before a Justice of the Peace in the Queenstown District Court yesterday, and was remanded in custody to appear in the Alexandra District Court on April 14.
Sergeant Mike Williams, of Cromwell, said two officers were called to a residential address in the town shortly before 7pm.
Three officers from Alexandra arrived shortly after.
During the incident the man "punched out" glass windows at the address, receiving lacerations to his hands and forearms," Sgt Williams said.
A police officer received minor glass lacerations to a knee during a struggle to arrest the man, he said.
The man was held in custody overnight before his court appearance in Queenstown yesterday.
