Fii winger Vilimoni Delasau will likely miss his team's Pacific Nations Cup rugby match against Japan on Sunday after appearing in a Lautoka court on Tuesday charged with assault.
Magistrate Shafullah Khan dismissed the charge against Delasau, who was accused of assaulting student Jerry Mudunaivalu after Saturday's match against New Zealand Maori at Lautoka's Churchill Park.
France-based Delasau declined legal assistance and represented himself.
Magistrate Khan said the incident was the result of a misunderstanding but reprimanded Delasau for "unruly behavior".
Delasau refused to comment on whether he would join the Fiji team in Japan for Sunday's match. The board of the Fiji Rugby Union is due to decide next week whether the player will face further disciplinary action.
