Max Beal, who played Billy Flynn, won best supporting male in a musical.

It was the ninth year of the awards and the effects of Covid-19 were still being felt, chairman Brian Pay said.

Several planned productions throughout the region had to be cancelled due to cast illness during rehearsals.

Overall, 12 productions were entered in 2022, seven of which were musicals and five plays.

There were 92 nominations across 22 categories, he said.

Gore Musical Theatre and West Otago Theatrical each won three awards.

Repertory Invercargill, Showbiz Queenstown and South Otago Theatrical Society each won two awards.
