The Otago Daily Times is the newest sponsor for the Highlanders.

Allied Press commercial manager Matthew Holdridge said the partnership marked an exciting new chapter in the shared journey of both organisations.

As the newspaper of the South, the ODT had long been committed to celebrating and supporting the region’s vibrant sporting scene, and similarly the Highlanders stood as the pride of southern rugby, embodying the spirit of the region, Mr Holdridge said.

"Across Otago and Southland, the Highlanders are the pinnacle of our local rugby community, which we are proud to support.

"The relationship aligns perfectly with the extensive local news and advertising coverage, which the ODT provides across the lower south."

He said the ODT had always been and would continue to be committed to providing strong coverage and connecting the team to the community, and subscribers would see benefits for the upcoming season arrive soon.

Highlanders Rugby Club commercial manager Mike Kerr said the organisation was thrilled to partner with the ODT.

"The ODT, like us, they represent the deep South and have a long, proud history of providing great coverage of Super Rugby.

"So partnering with them is a real win/win situation."
