Fashion FWD: Disruption through Design, the museum’s latest exhibition, is up for the award under the exhibitions and temporary structures category.
The category celebrates New Zealand design in layout and presentation and is among the country’s premier design awards.
Head of exhibitions and creative services Craig Scott was ‘‘thrilled’’.
“This exhibition has been so well received by the public, so it is great to have that confirmation by our design peers, too,’’ he said.
Fashion FWD features designers from 14 countries who have been iD Emerging Designer finalists from the last 16 years.
The garments are grouped with selected items from Otago Museum’s collection, which spans centuries.
The exhibition was designed by the in-house team at Otago Museum.
Marketing manager Kate Oktay said the exhibition had already been ‘‘incredibly popular’’, and more than 27,000 people had visited the space so far.
“Being a finalist in the Best Awards is the cherry on the top,” she said.
The exhibition is open until October 17.
