Where are they now?

JOSH HARRIS

2013: As well as representing North Otago in basketball and rugby, Harris had won medals in the South Island secondary schools rowing and triathlon championships. The high academic achiever planned to take a gap year before deciding what to study at university.

2023: With a commerce degree and a graduate diploma of chartered accounting, Harris works for Christchurch-based Westland Milk Products. As a finance business partner, he provides financial advice to the business’ leaders. Although he has played basketball and rugby since high school, he prefers outdoor recreational activities such as hunting and fishing.

 

THOMAS GALBRAITH

2013: Successful in running, rowing, motocross and smallbore shooting, Galbraith was also a member of the school’s Excellence Club. He planned to train as a pilot in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

2023: Galbraith is the electronics team leader for the in-space propulsion department at Dawn Aerospace. His team is responsible for designing and manufacturing the control electronics for Dawn’s satellite propulsion systems. Based in Christchurch, he has a bachelor of engineering degree with honours (first class) and a master’s of engineering (electrical) with distinction (see separate story).
