Letters to the Editor
The Otago Daily Times values readers' letters. We receive far more than we can print, so we try to publish the most representative, interesting and provocative from within our circulation area.
To give more readers a say, letters should not exceed our guidelines for length (normally 150 words). We also reserve the right to abridge any letter. Letters may be referred for comment before publication.
We do not publish letter writers more frequently than once a fortnight, nor do we enter into discussion about selection or editing.
Please write legibly on one side of the paper. Full name, residential address, daytime phone number and signature are required, although email and computer-fax letters are exempt from the signature requirement. Email submissions should be headed "Letter to Editor" in the subject line.
We do not accept letters that have been sent to other newspapers or other people. Noms-de-plume will be permitted only where a suitable case for anonymity is clear.
