Seventeen former editors of student magazine Critic have written an open letter to the University of Otago protesting the destruction of the magazine's "Menstruation Issue" this week.

The University of Otago is distancing itself from the destruction of 500 copies of student magazine Critic, saying it was "a mistake" not an act of censorship, despite being carried out by Campus Watch.

A woman crashed her car through a fence outside a Dunedin childcare centre today, falling several feet and striking a pole and a parked car.
