Pop-up cinemas, projection displays and Shanghai-inspired fashion will be displayed in Dunedin this month as part of a graduating exhibition by third-year Otago Polytechnic design students.
The exhibition, DEBRIEF, will open on November 20 and include work by the 75 graduating communication, fashion, interior and product design students.
Head of design and hospitality Caroline Terpstra said the final-year exhibition taught students to become savvy in self-promotion.
''Our students have reached a stage where they have confidence as designers, and this event helps them market themselves; a skill necessary in the design industry.''
DEBRIEF will be combined with a fashion show titled Collections 13 of work by graduating fashion design students.
Academic leader of fashion Dr Margo Barton said the creativity and diversity shown in the graduate collections highlighted students' individual talents and directions, and pointed to exciting careers ahead.
''We are also very proud to be showcasing collections from our guest students from the International Fashion Academy Paris - associated with the Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences - who are participating in the Dunedin Shanghai sister-city project,'' she said.
DEBRIEF will be open to the public between November 21 and 24 at the former Unipol building. Collections 13 will be held in the same venue between 5.30pm and 10.30pm on November 22.
