The teenager is alleged to have stolen $145 worth of items from the store.

They included hydrating facial serum and sunscreen, a hydrating lip oil and eye cream.

He was arrested and charged with theft.

 - Three teenagers potentially enjoying some moon-gazing were caught by police jumping up and down on a Waikouaiti roof on Monday.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police were called to the East Otago Events Centre in Main Rd at 11.40pm after reports of three teenagers jumping up and down on the roof of the building.

When police arrived, the three youths — aged 14, 15 and 16 — attempted to hide on the roof but were caught by officers.

They came down from the building compliantly and were taken home to their parents.

"They could have been up there looking up at the full moon," Snr Sgt Bond speculated.
