Inspired by the backdrop of the nearby mountains, the pools will be heated by solar thermal collectors and an industry-leading water-treatment system will ensure exceptional bathing water purity.
The Opuke experience will offer family hot pools, a kids’ aqua play zone with crazy river and leap of faith plunge pool, an adult-exclusive hot pools that includes cold plunge pools and sauna, private pools and a fully-equipped spa facility with a range of therapies.
Project spokesman James McKenzie said the exciting project was just past the half-way mark and aligned to open during the winter season on Mt Hutt. It was a complicated project, but components were coming together well.
“We are thrilled with the way things are going. The architect and landscaper have done great jobs to ensure that all of the requirements of this exciting project are included in the delivery.”

The plant room when completed would be crammed to the hilt with pumps, filters, heat exchangers, dosing systems and kilometres of uPVC, copper and steel pipe.
It would provide industry-leading water quality sourced from the mountains, he said.
Opuke will also feature around 500 solar panels, which on a sunny day in mid-winter will provide the energy to heat and cool the entire operation.
A backup, secondary heating supply will be provided through heat pumps.

He said thankfully covid had had little impact on the project schedule and only a small impact on supply.

A general manager will be appointed first and other front line and back office staff will come on board over the next few months.
