In the latest update, the council said repairing the Lake Ohau Rd bridge following heavy rain remained a priority - and work was continuing to reinstate access as soon as possible. Yesterday, about 300 cubic metres of rock was deposited into the washout.
Civil Defence coordinated with suppliers and Ohau residents to get essential supplies in to Lake Ohau Village last night.
''Everyone at Ohau - residents, and especially the holiday makers - have been so well looked after and been in such good spirits directly as a result of that feeling of being recognised,'' a Lake Ohau Village representative said.
''Everyone who had a problem found a solution, everyone who reached out felt cared for.''
Several Waitaki roads remain closed due to flooding, washouts and landslides. The council said its contractors had been working hard across the district as they continued to inspect and commence repairs on local roads.
With low temperatures, the council warned motorists to be prepared for icy roads and to drive to the conditions, and asked that motorists did not remove or adjust any signage or cones.
''We have received reports that members of the public may be removing or altering temporary road signage and cones,'' the council said in a statement.
''This can create a hazard for other road users and is also a criminal offence. Do not remove or adjust any signage or cones.''
State Highways 83 and 8 have reopened, but motorists are encouraged to expect delays, drive with ''extreme caution'' and allow extra time due to holiday traffic, repair works and speed restrictions.
The Waitaki River flows have decreased overnight. It was flowing at about 1085 cumecs this morning.
Boil water notices on the Otematata and Omarama Water Supplies remain in place.
