How long have you been in your role?
Since the start of July. I took over Don Roney’s area and his client base.
Where were you working before this?
I was working for PGG Wrightson in Nelson and I wanted to move back to Otago. My parents are sheep and beef farmers at Hyde. It’s nice being back in Otago.
Did you consider staying in Nelson?
It was nice in Nelson and it was a good place to get going, but I was wanting to move down and an opportunity came up with Rural Livestock, so I took it.
What did you do before working for PGG Wrightson?
I studied ag commerce (farm management) at Massey University in Palmerston North.
How has it been getting around Don’s client base?
I've got around everybody that I need to and I'm catching up with a few new people and learning the ropes of the area. It’s a quiet time of the year, but things should ramp up coming into the warmer months.
Is your long-term goal to be a farmer?
I'm not sure. I'm enjoying what I'm doing at the moment. I do enjoy farming, but I also enjoy being a stock agent, so well see.
