The person was taken into custody after the incident in Mairehau on Monday night and is set to appear in court today on charges including assaulting and resisting police.
A police spokeswoman said they received reports of someone knocking on doors and acting agitated in the Warrington St area.
Police responded to the reports and an incident involving the person occurred shortly after 7pm.
A witness told chrislynchmedia.com they saw two people lying on the road in handcuffs.
