The 12th annual Rock ’n’ Wheels show and swap meet recorded its best year ever on Sunday.
Held annually on Fathers’ Day at the Amberley Domain, this year about 600 cars of all genres attended, making it the biggest the show organisers had ever seen.
‘‘We were absolutely blown away with the response,’’ Trustee Tania Robinson said.
‘‘It was so emotional to see all the cars and people there, to see the huge turnout from the community and the many different car clubs and organisations who attended.
‘‘It was also very sad because the whole event was the brain child of my father›in›law Les Pratt who sadly passed away just two weeks ago.
‘‘He and all our family had been running the show for 11 years and he would have loved to have seen it all.’’
Tania says the weather was also the best they had ever had, and it helped make it all such a special day.
‘‘Les started the show to raise funds for community groups in the Amberley district and this year we were happy to have the Broomfield and Amberley schools, Leithfield Boxing Club and Amberley Squash being partners and beneficiaries of the profits from the show,’’ she said.
‘‘It was an absolutely awesome turnout and we are all looking ahead to next years show, especially now that the Mustang clubs in Canterbury have said they will be back.’’
