The fire that engulfed a boat before it sank to the bottom of Lyttelton Harbour at the weekend, forcing its occupants to jump overboard, was caught on camera.
The Royal New Zealand Coastguard said seven people were on board when the blaze broke out near Quail Island.
People were reportedly seen leaping into the water to get to safety shortly after the fire broke out on the harbour about 12.45pm on Saturday.
No one was injured.
A coastguard spokesperson said there are plans to retrieve the boat from the bottom of the harbour this week.
