SI titles up for grabs

Some of the best map-readers and direction-followers in the country are in Dunedin for the South Island championships starting today.

There is a sprint event around Green Island today, the long-distance championships at Hereweka, on Otago Peninsula, on Saturday, and the middle-distance event at the Pyramids, near Portobello, on Sunday.

Christchurch Orienteering Club coach Jeni Adams will also host a training session at Bethunes/Forrester Park tomorrow.

It is the first time Dunedin has hosted the championships since 2018. Up to 180 entrants are expected, including some New Zealand representatives using the event to prepare for the world junior championships in the Czech Republic in June.
