Starc, the brother of Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc, won the Commonwealth Games title in 2018 and was second in 2022.
He also has a Diamond League title.
Starc and Kerr last competed together at the Paris Olympics, jumping in the same qualifying group.
Starc failed to make the final while Kerr came away with gold.
The two share a personal best of 2.36m – Starc set his four months after winning the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, while Kerr achieved his at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow last year, and equalled it at the Olympics.
Japanese jumper Takashi Eto, who has a personal best of 2.30m from 2017, will also be taking part in the star-studded meet at Ngā Puna Wai on February 22.
ITM athletes’ director Craig Motley said there was a good cast of athletes for the event.
“Three 2.30m jumpers is pretty good.
“I let Hamish (Kerr) know straightaway and he was really excited about it. The couple of times when he has competed, he’s won starting after everyone else has finished.
“Now it’s going to be a competition. We’ve got the reigning Olympic champion so that attracts people to it . . . it won’t just be a carnival jump off as such.”
Kerr said he was looking forward to the competition, which will be his second of the year, following the Cooks Classic in Whanganui on January 25.
“I’m definitely relishing the opportunity to compete against some of the internationals in my home patch, it’ll be a bit different to usual,” he said.
“I know (Starc) pretty well, we’ve spent a lot of time on the road together, so it’s always good to catch up with him and I’m looking forward to having him down in Christchurch.”
Olympians Tom Walsh and Zoe Hobbs will compete in the shot put and sprint events respectively.
