The annual Toot for Tucker drive saw volunteers collect food donations from residents in an effort to replenish depleted food banks.
More than 100 volunteer drivers and runners roamed the streets collecting goods from the generous residents.
The annual event was organised by the Rolleston Rotary Club, alongside the Rolleston and Selwyn Lions Clubs, which want to do their bit to help out the community.
"To be honest, it gets easier every year because this is a growing event and we actually get people approaching us, which is fantastic.
"So we just hope to keep that momentum going."
The food drive proved successful, with more than 135 boxes collected, amounting to about $10,000 in food.
"People love it, they love being able to give back and it's a pretty simple, amazing thing to be doing out in the community," said van der Kley.
The donated food items were dropped off at grateful food banks on Thursday.
