A body has been found in a pond of one of Australia's most prestigious private golf clubs.
Police found the body in The Lakes Golf Club at Eastlakes in southern Sydney about 9.30am on Wednesday (local time) after reports of a concern for welfare.
Water police and aircraft are involved in the investigation, which is in its infancy.
The 95-year-old club describes itself as one of the leading major tournament venues in Australian golf.
It has hosted the Australian Open on seven occasions, including four times since 2010.
Prospective members aged over 40 are charged a $40,000 entrance fee and $5700 annually for a full membership.
