A police officer spotted vehicle parked behind a skatepark on Holley St, Leeston, at 9.25am on Friday, and other units were called in for support.
Said a police spokesman: "The vehicle had been involved in numerous vehicle drive-offs and pursuits with police vehicles in Christchurch recently."
Police were making inquiries into the two people in the vehicle.
