Construction of the South Island’s largest Pak’nSave supermarket is under way in Rolleston.

The Levi Rd store is set to open at the end of 2025.

It will cover 8100sq m and is expected to generate about 200 jobs.

Foodstuffs South Island general manager retail and property Tim Donaldson said the store would be at the heart of the growing community.

“This new store will not only provide affordable, healthy food and create jobs, but it’s designed with sustainability in mind.

“We’ve incorporated solar panels, EV charging stations, and energy-efficient refrigeration systems that use natural refrigerants.

"There’s also extensive use of natural light and LED lighting and a heat-reclaim unit for hot water and heating systems to cut energy consumption,” he said.

Public consultation is now open for an application to also house a Mitre 10 on the site next to the Pak’nSave.
