A new residents’ association has been set up in Lincoln to replace the defunct community committee.
The Lincoln Community and Residents’ Association Inc has been formed after Selwyn District Council called time on all of its community committees last year.
Association spokesperson Lindsay Wilson said it would like residents to attend its next meeting at 7pm on April 8 at Lincoln Community Care and contribute to the direction of the association.
“We do want people to come along to this next meeting to listen and also put any of their own ideas forward,” Wilson said.
Chair of the community committee Kathryn Claridge is also the association chair.
The group has an annual meeting scheduled in July.
Wilson said the district's 2024-34 Long Term Plan is currently a major focus for the new association.
“It is that critical time at the council with the Long Term Plan out there for consultation so we’ll definitely be looking at submissions to that.”
Wilson said the Lincoln town centre is an outstanding issue the association wants to see moved forward.
