Selwyn Sounds on Saturday is being hailed as the best ever in the Canterbury music festival's four-year history.

About 10,000 people packed into Lincoln Domain to see Icehouse, 10cc, Zed, Midge Ure, The Mockers, Jed Parsons and AutoMatic 80s.Said event director David Parlane: "I think the overall event this year was our best yet with our best lineup.

"Everybody had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed what was on offer."

The international and Kiwi acts were on top of their game. Some of the highlights included a powerful performance from Scottish musician Midge Ure, a reunion set full of singalongs by Kiwi rockers Zed, as well as standout performances by UK band 10cc and Australian headliners Icehouse to finish the event.

The music was loud, the drinks were cold and a range of food trucks fueled the crowd, which was well-behaved on the whole.

Early bird tickets are already on sale for Selwyn Sounds 2021 with Mr Parlane saying two international acts have already been booked.
